Do you know what this country is missing?
A second Oklahoma City Bombing, apparently. When ATF agents arrested Kevin “K.C.” Massey III at a hotel in Brownsville, Texas, last week they found a lot more than just guns and ammunition in his room: there was also a container of ammonium nitrate and fuel.
The ATF executed the warrant on charges that Massey had been illegally carrying weapons while leading border-militia patrols in Texas. Massey is a felon, and was encounterd by the Border Patrol on August 31 in possession of a firearm. He was arrested last week.
According to an inventory of the items the police found in his room, there was an “ammo box filled with ammonium nitrate (suspected) and fuel.” Participants at Camp LoneStar — the border-militia operation that Massey is the de facto “commander” of — have described the hotel room as “a place to take a shower and get a good night’s rest.”
Apparently, “build a better bomb” appears to have gone unmentioned.
Massey’s arrest has caused a fresh round of paranoia among his fellow hatriots on the border. Now they’re claiming that laws precluding felons from owning weapons are “unconstitutional” and one of his supporters delivered a long-winded rant supporting Massey on Facebook, arguing: “What part of “shall not be infringed” do you not understand? any law made to keep a person from owning a gun is UNLAWFUL,and invalid from its inception!”
Meanwhile, an avid supporter of Camp LoneStar has been hawking T-Shirts with the camp’s logo. She’s promised that ” a portion of proceeds” will go towards Massey’s defense fund. Uh huh.
I wonder if Greg Abbott will be lending any assistance. After all, four days before his arrest, K.C. Massey was photographed shaking hands and chatting with Greg Abbot, while wearing a “Greg Abbot for Governor” hat. The Abbot Campaign has issued a statement saying that Abbott had no idea who Massey was when Massey posed with him, although they declined to state whether or not Abbott supported the group, saying “Greg Abbott places his trust in the Department of Public Safety, border sheriffs, the National Guard and local law enforcement to do the job necessary to keep Texans safe.”
