A young man, a desire to take impressive selfies, and a loaded gun. Nope, nothing bad can happen here.
You probably know how this story ends already.
Twenty-one-year old Oscar Otero Aguilar, from Mexico City, posted a number of photographs on his Facebook page taken of him in front of fast cars, sitting on expensive motorbikes and hugging beautiful women. There was even a picture of him posing with a band.
But his endless search for “the most impressive snapshot” ended abruptly and in a less-than-impressive fashion when he borrowed a gun and decided to take some pictures on his mobile phone as he waved it around:
Neighbour Manfredo Paez Paez, 57, told local media: “I heard a gunshot, and then I heard somebody screaming and realised somebody had been hurt. I called the police straight away and when they arrived they found that he was still alive.”
Medics were quickly called out but the young man died on the way to hospital in an ambulance.
Police who questioned those who were in the flat when the accident happened said that he had been messing around with the gun and taking pictures when it accidentally went off.
I’m sure he’s in the running for a Darwin Award. Apparently, no one told him that when you’ve got a gun and a camera, you shoot yourself with the camera — not the gun.
