It’s fitting that Rick Perry, Sarah Palin and Ted Nugent are all speaking at the NRA convention this weekend. After all, they have a lot in common with the new NRA president who is a racist, confederate slob!
In this clip from his show Real Time, host Bill Maher begins by bringing up the Fairleigh Dickinson University study that showed 44% of Republicans believe an “armed revolution” might be necessary against the federal government in order to defend their freedom and liberties.
“Thinking the Second Amendment protects you from tyranny is like thinking the First Amendment protects you from Thor,” Maher exclaimed!
“Americans For Tax Reform” goof Mattie Duppler found this idea “terrifying” at which point Fox News lackey Pete Hegseth pressed the issue,
“You’re saying there’s no instance, even in the abstract, when liberty would need to be preserved at the point of a weapon?”
Lawrence O’Donnell interrupted Hegseth and stomped him,
“Correct,” O’Donnell decreed. “Zero. We’re past it. You said the present tense. It is 2013. And oh by the way, a long time before that, this country long passed the point when you would ever have to rise in arms against this government.”
“Forty-four percent of the Republican LUNATIC party believes they might have to rise up against the government,” shouted O’Donnell.
