Bill Maher brought the fall premiere of his show Real Time back last night at the perfect time, he hit the air just as the Syrian cluster…well you know what. This was a gift to Bill’s devious mind, it was no surprise that Bill in his own unique sharp-tongued, take no prisoners style had all the material he needed courtesy of and at the expense of the TEApublicans in Congress.
He pointed out that no matter what Obama endorses they go the other way, even when they had previously been in support of it. Bill opined that Michelle Obama’s program to get kids to drink more water might be a secret test to see how the TEApublicans would respond. He imagined them saying, “That’s not water, that’s Socialism juice!”
He went on saying of the NSA “scandal:
“When Bush was doing it, it was OK. When Obama started doing it, he was mega Hitler on acid.”
He continued, mentioning Simpson Bowles which was a TEApublican bill until Obama came out in favor of it and then they were against it. When they talked about bombing Syria before Obama called for it 51% were in favor of it, when the President supported it the number dropped to 41%.
Bill suggested that it was time for a new word to be added to the dictionary to accurately describe this phenomenon and came up with the term “Black Track”:
After unveiling his new term Bill asked his guests, “Are the Republicans sincere about being an isolationist party,” or are they just ‘blacktracking’ and as soon as we have a white president they’ll be back to kicking ass and taking names?” No one can fault the validity of the question, one does have to wonder has the GOP suddenly become the party of restraint? Are they no longer going to call for a show of strength at the first hint of some minor slight either real or imagined or is this only because they don’t want to appear to have supported this particular President in any way?
Guest Michael Steele suggested lamely that this was the “libertarian voice” asserting itself in the party and stepping up out of the background. Apparently Mr. Steele has been asleep the last 4 and a half years. These people have been asserting their voice for a long time now.
