Bergeron’s Restaurant in Port Allen, Louisiana loves firearms. In fact, while many businesses are attempting to keep patrons safe by asking customers to leave their auxiliary penises outside, this restaurant is offering a 10% discount to those who endanger those around them by bringing their trusty boomsticks to protect themselves from the tyranny of spicy food(?).
“I just need to see a weapon. I need you to be carrying a gun,” owner Kevin Cox says, and he’ll knock 10 percent off your tab.
Originally, the discount began as a way to thank law enforcement officers for visiting the restaurant. However, soon, others began to arrive locked-and-loaded to get the discount as well.
“As long as everybody has a gun we’re all the same size,” he explains.
“I keep hearing so much about people banning guns, Target’s banning guns, and these people are banning guns,” Cox says. “Don’t they realise that that’s where people with guns are going to go? I want to take the opposite approach. How can I make my place safer?”
While most would agree that his place would be safer without unstable ammosexuals bringing their weapons to dinner, he apparently feels that the best approach is to welcome them with open arms.
“I think it protects the restaurant. It discourages people from breaking in. If they think someone may have a gun and it’s concealed, you’ll think twice about coming in and robbing somebody,” he added. “You feel safer because I mean somebody walks in and wants to rob the place, they’re going to think twice when they see it’s not a gun free place.”
Cox says that he gives out 15 to 20 discounts each day.
