Louie Gohmert (R-single digit IQ) has stated, and was recorded for posterity, that if the government is forced to default, President Obama should be impeached.
Obviously, Louie doesn’t understand the role of Congress.–not exactly a news flash! Mr. Gohmert also fails to appreciate that statements on video can replayed over and over again.
The need to raise the debt ceiling must be addressed immediately by the Congress, even though the issues generated by the sequester and shutdown are still sending shock waves through the country and the economy.
For Michele Bachmann’s sake, let’s repeat: to raise the debt ceiling only allows the United States to pay bills already owed–to make good on outstanding debts. It’s like eating at an expensive restaurant and then claiming an inability to pay, or saying that the morons at your table won’t let you increase your credit limit–sorry about stiffing the waiter!
This is the closest our nation has ever skated toward default–and the rest of the world is nervous.
Again and forever, it is the job of Congress to fund the budget and raise the debt ceiling.
It has never been such a major issue before this Presidency, even though many recent Presidents- especially Republicans- have created huge deficits.
Congressman Gohmert, great idea about impeachment, but it is your removal from office that should be your main concern once the voters act to rid the nation of your ignorance.
