Right-wing bigot Peter LaBarbera, president of the anti-LGBT organization Americans for Truth about Homosexuality, spoke with another right-wing bigot, former Infowars “reporter” David Ortiz about the masculinity of gays in America. Their position was predictable and offensive.
Ortiz stated that American’s acceptance of homosexuality is the result of embracing “moral relativism.” He then asked LaBarbera, “Why can’t a man sexually relieve himself next to you on a bus stop as long as he’s not groaning, as long as he cleans up after himself?”
Well, that escalated quickly. Unfortunately, LaBarbera just nodded his head and moved on to the next offensive statement.
LaBarbera went into a diatribe how a gay man cannot be masculine and any man who wears leather is exhibiting “faux masculinity” in an attempt to compensate for the lack of real masculinity.
One wonders if LaBarbera would feel the same about any given motorcycle gang riders across America. We can only assume that LaBarbera would say he doesn’t mean those people, just LGBT people and their apparel.
“Tough guy homosexuality masculinity is not the real deal,” LaBarbera said. “Masculine men do not have sex with other men.”
In other words, every gay man is exactly like their stereotype—limp-wristed and screeching when they break a nail. They also like to wear leather and ass-less chaps, except when they’re tucking it under while dressing in drag.
Such is the ridiculousness of this conversation with Peter LaBarbera and David Ortiz, and their strange ideas on masculinity.
