Once again Jon Stewart lambasted the ridiculous fallacious arguments from the NRA on his show, this time taking aim (pun intended) at gun nut numero uno: Wayne LaPierre. In his congressional testimony, LaPierre claimed that universal background checks for all gun sales and transfers were a waste of time because criminals won’t follow the law.
LaPierre said, “”When it comes to background checks, let’s be honest — background checks will never be universal because criminals will never submit to them.”
Stewart mocked LaPierre saying, “Good point! Lets pass laws that only criminals will immediately obey. Lets do that. Hey, what’s this ‘thou shalt not kill,’ you know, murderers are just going to bypass that. They’ll find a way around it.”LaPierre got another truth enema when Baltimore Police Chief James Johnson reported that background check do work, and had prevented more than two million prohibited purchases. Two million.
