On The Daily Show Monday night, host Jon Stewart slammed Congress for working at warp speed to fix travel delays caused by the sequester cuts because they would be personally affected by them. Congress has been widely criticized from the left and the right for the move. Chief Strategist for George W. Bush, Matthew Dowd, recently lambasted Congress over the issue, saying,
The only way they’re bipartisan is to do something for themselves. It’s amazing the speed at which they did that. We have this horrible shooting where all these children die in Connecticut, we can’t pass gun control legislation.
Jon Stewart wasn’t as nice or calm.
We all know that if you look up Congress in the dictionary it says, ‘Do-nothing f@#ktards who couldn’t solve a problem if it was eating them alive, anus first,’
In a pathetic attempt to take the focus off of their shameless self-serving action, the Republican head of the House Appropriations Committee, Harold Rogers (R-idiot) claimed that he didn’t know that sequester cuts would affect air travel. Of course, he’s a liar.
And finally, Daily Show Correspondent Aasif Mandvi investigates conservative claims that the sequester cuts were a fake crisis, instead finding that the cuts severely affected the weak, sick, poor, elderly, and most vulnerable Americans
