On Tuesday night’s Daily Show Jon Stewart marveled at how many ultra conservatives are being called not conservative enough by the TEA party Republicans.
He noted that Speaker John Boehner seems to have had his fill of their extremist views and actions after he helped to broker the budget deal which as Stewart noted avoids another shutdown for the next two years by, “funding government at its current pathetic levels.”
He then marveled that TEA party golden boy, Paul Ryan has now fallen out of favor with the extreme right for his part in putting this deal together and is now being accused of not being conservative enough. Paul Ryan is not conservative enough! As Stewart said, it wasn’t long ago that he was, “golden child whose fiscal genius will lead us to the promised land.”
Perhaps the most amazing accusations are those against John Cornyn, (R-TX) who has been rated as the second most conservative member of the Senate. Cornyn is facing a primary challenge from TEA party candidate Steve Stockman who has called him a liberal who supports Obamacare.
Even Ronald Reagan was not conservative enough for the TEA party Republicans of today, with Sarah Palin and Bill O’Reilly agreeing that he was not a “real” conservative.
