Before it became a reality, Jon Stewart took on the terrorist branch of the GOP who were threatening and have now succeeded in stopping government for the first time in 17 years.
Why are comedians doing a better job of reporting the news than most of the media tasked with this function?
Stewart helpfully cited the relevant passages of the Constitution during the passage of legislation, executive signing and judicial approval. Not to mention Presidential elections- the last one having further validated Obamacare. Plus the How A Bill Becomes a Law cartoon had a cameo appearance.
“I’m all for a pox on both their houses when appropriate,” Stewart said. “But this is not a game of chicken. This is when someone is driving to work and there’s a car coming directly at them in their lane. That’s not a game of chicken — that’s an as*hole causing a head-on collision.”
Thank you Jon Stewart and The Daily Show writers. Too many in the media are afraid to accurately report what is happening in this Congress.
This is terrorism, a disregard for our laws and Constitution and a complete rejection of the idea that government has a critical role in the lives of all citizens.
To elect a “shut-it-down” Republican to the Senate or the House is like hiring a sex offender to work in a daycare center.
