Despite their cries otherwise, study after study continues to reveal that right- and Republican-leaning states are far more dependent on the Federal Government that they hate than left- and Democrat-leaning ones are.
The latest report comes from the personal finance site WalletHub; the analysis ranks states based on how much they rely on the federal government to support their finances.
To figure the dependence, WalletHub took four metrics: the return on tax payer investment, the percentage of federal funding as state revenue, the per capita federal employee rate, and the “Number of Civilian Non-Defense Federal Employees per Capita.”
The results are telling and predictable. According to the map below, the states that are most dependent are shaded in white, while the least dependent are a darker shade of blue. A ranking of 1 is the least dependent, while a ranking of 50 is the most dependent.
Epistemic closure doesn’t begin to describe these people; they’re so damn certain that they’ll do everything possible to make themselves right, even if it tanks the country in the process.
