In 2013, it’s safe to say that America is no longer living in a ‘Mad Men’ era. Yet pop culture, media, and even the common workplace are still responsible for 50’s style sexism in our culture.
It’s terrible to think about, but it is true that women often earn less, have more difficulty obtaining high-level positions and face intimidating harassment in the office, as well as being looked upon as simply a sex symbol. The sad fact is America is still unequal despite vast progress for women’s rights. We typically tend to think that we narrowed the gap on sexism. But, inequality for women still continues today as we head into 2014.
