In the wake of President Obama’s tense (and epic smackdown) Fox News interview with Bill O’Reilly, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton saw an opportunity to take a shot at the right wing network, firing off a tweet during the Super Bowl as the Seahawks slaughtered the Broncos.
The interview made headlines due to the fact that Obama directly called out O’Reilly and his network for perpetuating the already-debunked IRS scandal and Benghazi conspiracy theories.
“Your detractors believe you did not tell the world [Benghazi] was a terror attack because your campaign did not want that out. That’s what they believe,” O’Reilly said.
“And they believe it because folks like you tell them that,” Obama shot back. “These kinds of things keep on surfacing in part because you and your TV station will promote them.”
As a result of the Fox-fueled Benghazi conspiracy-mongering, Hillary Clinton came under intense scrutiny by right wing factions — both in the government and media – eventually being forced to testify on Capitol Hill in regards to the controversy.
