Oh, you can almost hear Fox “News'” Gretchen Carlson screaming…”Tell me you love me, Peter…TELL me you LOVE ME!!”
These days, in the wake of the Republican shutdown, the Foxtwats are doing their best to maintain some sense of legitimacy, and doubling down on TeaMania. But as this interview with NY-R Congressman Peter King shows, the real Republicans in our government just aren’t having it. They’re fed up with Cruz’s Crazies, the Tea Party and, by proxy, Fox “News.”
Gretchen led the interview off, asking King rather indignantly about his usage of the term “Cruz Crazies.” King responded, saying
“No, I didn’t use the word ‘Cruz Crazies.” I said ‘the Cruz wing of the party was taking over.‘ It was a minority, and it was driving the whole train forward, basically going over the cliff. I think the words ‘Cruz Crazies’ was used in the headline. No, I didn’t say that.”
That might seem a little wishy washy, but King quickly set the record straight on his exact feelings toward Tailgunner Ted and his corporate jihadis.
“I’ve said repeatedly that I think Ted Cruz is a fraud. I’ve said that he’s leading us to a terrible policy.”
Gretchen then summoned up her best Palin face, and said “But you say you’re tired of being a facilitator for a disastrous process. In what way?”
“It just makes no sense. There’s no end to this. Ted Cruz went around this summer and was sending out robo-calls, and advertising himself, saying that if the House voted to de-fund Obamacare, that would end Obamacare. Well, he did it, and then he failed in the Senate. He knew he was going to fail. The votes were never there…The fact is that Obamacare is not going to be defunded. He knew that all along, and he sold a false bill of goods.“
Evidently, King doesn’t like being lied to. He also doesn’t appreciate being Shanghai’d by a bunch of sociopathic nutjobs.
“He was able to get 30 or 40 people to threaten to vote against the party unless they went his way. So, in effect, he’s hijacked our party.”
Oh, Gretchen didn’t like THAT one bit. Talk about OUR Golden Boy that way?
“So, you say he’s hijacked the party. But there are many people in the party who are siding with him, and they’re mad at YOU.” Yeah…BASTARD.
King didn’t blink, though.
“Oh, they can be mad at me all they want, the fact is that right now…if we were to had a secret ballot, clearly a majority of House Republicans would vote to re-open the government and they would vote against Ted Cruz.”
Hey, you…don’t you realize that FOX’S guy you’re talking about? AND you only passed it under duress? “So, you’re saying congressman that if it were not public, that last night it would not have gone as it did. Because you took Speaker Boehner aside and you tried too WOO some 25 other Republicans to come to you and have a different outcome. Correct?”
“Absolutely. More than that, but yeah. Because there’s so much opposition to this policy — this MADNESS — that is going absolutely nowhere.” (Translation: You’re an idiot, and everything you think is wrong. I happily accept your accusation.) “Having said that, it is where it is, and I think it’s important for the president now to come in. He can’t afford to sit at the sidelines. I’m not in any way defending his practices, they’re totally wrong. He should be in negotiating. But again, we should not have set the process where we say the government is going to shut down unless a law is defunded.”
Wait…hold on, Republican King. These are the same people you said “hijacked” our legislative body, yes? So, you’re saying that because YOU allowed political terrorists to hijack Congress, that it’s now the president’s job to negotiate with them? These people you hate so much, the ones who lied to you, blackmailed you, threatened you and coerced you…THESE are the guys we’re supposed to negotiate with? The United States does not negotiate with terrorists. You’d have said that if they were brown and talked funny; but the same rule doesn’t apply to WASPs in suits?
But that wasn’t what Gretchen latched onto. Like the alien facehugger that she is, Gretchen shoved her “GET BACK IN LINE!” kladelko directly down King’s throat. “But Congressman King, what do you do to bring the Republican party back together? Because right now you NOW that all the polls are blaming Republicans for this shutdown.” (Well, imagine THAT.) “And at this point, it looks like it’s all about the infighting, instead of what many believe we should be talking about today, which is Obamacare not working.”
Wow…that’s pretty amazing, Gretchen. It’s not working? As of when…yesterday? When over a million of the 40 million uninsured in this country tried to sign up between midnight and 7 A.M.? The program that had over 4.7 million unique visitors in 24 hours…enough to crash it’s servers? THAT wildly unpopular and non-functioning program? Oh, wait…sorry. It’s OBAMACARE that isn’t working. Apparently, the “Affordable Care Act” is doing OK. Being a Republican, King agreed…though that doesn’t mean he left Fox’s boy Ted without a parting shot.
“Yeah, that’s right. and that’s Ted Cruz’ fault. He led us down this path. This was a disaster from the start. I could have predicted this, and this is what the leadership predicted three weeks ago, when they said they would never pursue defunding because it was going to work against us, and we’d be blamed. But Ted Cruz insisted his people follow him, and we did it, and that’s why we’re in this position.”
“It’s his fault, and he wants us to get him out of it. Listen, I’m saying the President should negotiate, but I’m saying that this was caused by Ted Cruz and his acolytes…They led us down this dead end street. The Wall street Journal, Karl Rove, Tom Coburn, all solid conservatives, said this was a terrible policy to begin with. We had Republican senators saying it was the dopiest idea they ever heard of. Ted Cruz is to blame, and those in the House that stand with him have brought about this train wreck.”
And so passes another chapter in the self-immolation of the TEApublican party. King is right about Cruz, but let’s not forget…the Republican party these days is just in various shades of wrong, and for different reasons. And it all comes back to terrorist tactics. Whether or not they like the inevitable consequences of having made a deal with the Devil, nobody now wants to hear bitching about the heat.
The very fact that King blames Ted Cruz for this “train wreck” and then says “The President should negotiate” is nothing but a transparent attempt to use the Tea Party’s tactics to get what they want, while disavowing the Tea Party itself.
They’re trying to say “Hey…WE didn’t set this fire for the insurance money. We just gave the guy who did a gallon of gas and a matchbook. It’s not OUR fault it’s burning. Our DOG was in that house! But, hey, since it’s burning anyway…what about that insurance money again?”
