The Tea Party and other right-wing conservatives and the Christian Taliban worship an imaginary Constitution. They revere imaginary Founding Fathers, and they live in an imaginary country. As Bill Maher once said, “I want you teabaggers out there to understand one thing: while you idolize the Founding Fathers and dress up like them, and smell like them, I think it’s pretty clear that the Founding Fathers would have hated your guts!”
According to CNN:
Members of the Tea Party movement tend to be Christian conservatives, not libertarians, and are more likely than even white evangelical Christians to say the United States is a Christian nation, a detailed new study has found.
More than half of self-identified Tea Party members say America is a Christian nation, while just over four out of 10 white evangelicals believe that – the same as the proportion of the general population that says so.
The right-wing Tea Party-types in this country are lying to themselves and everyone else when they say that America was founded on “Christian principles”, or America is a “Christian nation.”
