Look into the little black circle around the AATTP logo, and you might notice that it contains the word “against.” As in “Americans Against the Tea Party.” That’s what we are, and that’s what we do here. But some things transcend political affiliation, and they’re obvious enough that even the most brick-headed Teabagger can’t ignore them. And, we being the statistically smart ones, should be smart enough to appreciate a touchstone when we see it. Case in point:
“Wholeheartedly, you (Congress and the President) do not care about the will of America, or its people…The ratio of American people who oppose the going of war in Syria (which includes many Marines and veterans by the thousands) was 499 to 1. That is 99 percent of the people in this country. So, if you and the rest of this government are truly for the American people, representatives of us, I suggest this time you listen; because nobody wants another war or strike in Syria or anywhere else.”
Powerful stuff. Isn’t THAT the message we’d all like read on the floor of the Senate every single day? Granted, it’s hard to say you agree with this guy. The emphasis that Leatherneck puts on the middle word in “Barack HUSSEIN Obama” is a bit of a distracting tip-off. As is the statement “…countless CHRISTIANS have lost their lives under evil people such as this.” So, yeah…your teabag’s showing a little, buddy. But an 11 percent congressional approval rating from BOTH parties shows that we might have all have loved to be the first to say this (speaking of the U.S. assisting Al Qaeda and other foreign and domestic enemies):
“It’s too bad someone like me is not in office to hold you accountable. Because if I was in a position of authority, I would have you all arrested and tried for treason against my country under the grounds of 18 USC 2381 Treason Code: “Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort within the United States or elsewhere is guilty of treason.
You swore an OATH to protect the people of this country from all enemies, both foreign and domestic. The simple irony is that the domestic enemy now in this country is the people in government of the United States.”
Let that soak in for a minute.
We might disagree about who that enemy is; the Teabaggers think it’s Obamunist Libturd Muslims, and we say it’s the 1% and Evangelical Corporatists. People closer to the middle more likely blame the extremes on both ends, or have a more balanced perspective. But no matter who you’re against and who your not, we can’t forget that we’re all basically on the same side. We have to be against Teabaggers, because their shortsightedness and greed will create a Hellscape nothing like the utopia they imagine. And their vision of that utopia is fundamentally flawed in the first place. But, while they may be too stupid to know what’s best, and too bigoted to care for whom…somewhere in their black little hearts, they still believe they’re doing the “right” thing. Just like us.
Even they, dumb as bricks as they are, recognize that no argument we have is going to make it past cable TV if our representatives no longer work for us. Like puppies who keep peeing on the bed, they don’t see the cause-and-effect relationship between their own ideologies and the corruption that has saddled our citizens with all the external political efficacy of serfs under King George. But we do.
Maybe this reality is the crowbar we need to finally rip the Grand Old Tea Party apart at its widening cracks, and the bat we can use to swat a few falling chunks into our little black circle.
