Some people start off their morning with coffee and a bagel. Others enjoy a nice, brisk run. This guy, however, kicked off his Thursday morning by calling C-SPAN to call President Barack Obama a n*gger.
The caller, a Republican who said his name was Anthony, got in touch with the station’s “Washington Journal” to discuss the direction he thinks the GOP majority in Congress should take.
“I would just like to say, that the Republicans — and I’m a Republican — please do not overreach,” Anthony said. “I know they’re going to overreach but I’m telling you, if you advocate for the repeal of Obamacare and you get too extreme, then Hillary Clinton will be elected President in 2016.”
“This is about race,” he told host Steve Scully. “The Republicans hate that n*gger Obama.”
“Okay, I’m gonna stop you there. We’re not gonna use that kind of language,” Scully said. “You can certainly make your point, but you cross the line when you use language like that. And so to our viewers and listeners, I want to apologize.”
CSPAN callers regularly discuss race in reprehensible fashions. In July, several white priders called in on the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act to whine about white oppression. Callers complained about black people being “given” everything. One went so far as to say that African-Americans owe white America a big “thank you.”
