An eight-year-old boy in Memphis, Tennessee was injured while trick of treating when a hooded gunman opened fire at a group of children on Halloween. According to witnesses, a group if teenagers walked up to some kids who were trick or treating. One of them, who witnesses say was wearing a red hoodie, began shooting.
The man at whose home the children were trick-or-treating says the attack occurred as he was inside getting the child some candy. Neighbors say that a total of six shots were fired. The boy was struck in the upper part of the inner thigh. Other children who were at the home ran inside, terrified.
“We just gave candy to a little boy on our front porch, he ran back down the street and told them he wanted to trick or treat,” said a neighbor. “Well, he didn’t make it because when he got back to his yard somebody had to shoot him.”
The boy’s aunt said the family was having its annual Halloween party. “We was having a family gathering. A family Halloween party. We do this every year for the kids to be safe with them, instead of walking from door to door, to be safe with them,” she said.
Police are still seeking the suspect.
