Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R- too scared to run for re-election) went on CNN to chat with Wolf Blitzer about Obamacare. Bachmann, who almost lost the last election and is retiring, really doesn’t have a dog in this race. But she valiantly went out there with lies and fables anyway.
Before the Affordable Health Care Act, America according to Bachmann had “fabulous” coverage. So “fabulous” that 45,000 Americans die every year due to lack of affordable insurance.
Bachmann once stated that a woman she randomly met confided that a vaccine important for teenage girls had caused mental retardation in her daughter.
The story Bachmann trotted out during this interview was inre a constituent whose costs had doubled and deductible had tripled. Bachmann’s brain-dead colleague Sean Hannity was recently busted for similar lies.
Then the soon to be former Congresswoman piled on the lies. President Obama never reached out to Republicans, not a single one. He made no compromises.
(Except abandoning the single payer option, for starters.)
Blitzer could not let that pass. He reminded Bachmann how often the President tried to work with the entire Congress, was always seeking bipartisanship and was rebuffed each time.
It is exhausting to see a constant Republican replay of their sad strategy. Anecdotal evidence in lieu of facts, and then bald-faced lies.
