Gretchen Carlson conducted a panel discussion on Fox News’ Real Story Tuesday with Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, founder of This World: Jewish Values Network and American Atheists President David Silverman. The topic, of course was the “persecution” of Christians in this country today with an emphasis on the “war on Christmas.”
They began by discussing the effrontery of the Satanists who want to erect a monument next to the ten commandments outside of the statehouse in Oklahoma. Both Donohue and Boteach decried this as a slap in the face to our Judeo-Christian roots, insisting that the nation was founded as a Christian nation, a sentiment with which Carlson adamantly agreed.
Silverman was shouted down by the three of them every time he attempted to make a point, rudeness which he handled with polite grace.
They quickly moved on to the “Festivus” Pole which Florida governor Rick Scott (R) has authorized to be placed next to a nativity display at the state Capitol building.
Carlson is absolutely livid that her children may see this symbol of a “fake” holiday, she said, “Why do I have to drive around with my kids to look for nativity scenes and be, like, ‘Oh, yeah, kids, look, there’s baby Jesus behind the Festivus pole made out of beer cans! It’s nuts!”
Donohue agreed saying, “We don’t have to have the Klan out there on Martin Luther King Day with their monuments right next to a bust of Martin Luther King. We don’t want to have neo-Nazis out there to stick it to Jews on Yom Kippur. And we shouldn’t have people out there ready to trash Christianity given that proximity.”
