A video posted online this week shows a GOP congressman threatening an immigration protester during a heated exchange in Simi Valley, California.
“If you touch me again, I’ll drop your ass,” Rep.Stephen Knight (R-CA) told an unidentified man in the video. The video was first posted by We the People Rising, a group that opposes illegal immigration.
In the video, the protesters repeatedly accuse Knight of having voted for President Obama’s “amnesty.” Knight claimed he “never voted for amnesty,” which immediately drew the ire of the protesters.
“Oh, come on!” one protester said. “We’re gonna vote you out in two years when your term’s over!” said another.
After the video went viral, Knight released a statement, saying:
“I have dealt with this group on several occasions and every time they try to escalate our conversations to a level that is not constructive. Over this past weekend, I lost my cool and I regret responding the way I did.”
