Berliner noted that on Sunday, Davis had said God had blessed her with having to struggle so that she could one day be a voice for people across the state and asked if she had “found enough of the will and enough prayers to get her elected.”
Gohmert replied saying:
“I think that she’s showing the same will she had when she let her husband pay for her to get through law school and then divorced him the day that law school was finished and paid for.”
To those who are familiar with the factually deficient ramblings of Gohmert, it will come as no surprise that the statement is not even close to the truth. Davis received her law degree in May of 1993 and admitted to the Texas bar in November of that year, she and Jeff Davis separated 10 years later in 2003. Their divorce was finalized in 2005, hardly the day after she graduated.
Since Gohmert feels that a divorced politician cannot be trusted we can assume that he does not trust Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, Mitch McConnell, Pete Sessions and many others including the all time hero of the far right, Ronald Reagan.
