GOP Obsessed with Birth Control Banning, OK with Penis Pumps and Viagra (Video)

Birth Control coverage under the Affordable Care Act (which many unfortunately still think is NOT the same as Obamacare, thank your local Faux News station) has proven to be a hardcore “issue” for GOP and Tea Party misogynists, who upon losing the last election vowed to change their ways. However, they are unsurprisingly still hellbent on describing contraceptive users with ridiculously degrading terms as “irresponsible” or  “in need of sugar daddies” and “helpless” while simultaneously claiming there’s no war on women.

Apparently, women* are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. “Irresponsible” if they take measures to prevent an unwanted pregnancy, and “irresponsible” if they don’t have access to contraceptives via a sex education lacking GOP. Should they come face to face with an unwanted pregnancy, taking the steps necessary or not in their own particular health situations is not a matter that is under their control.

Mike Huckabee, Fox News Host and former Arkansas governor, stated it simply at the Republican National Committee winter meeting, January 23rd, 2014.  “Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women. That’s not a war on them; it’s war for them. And if the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control, because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it. Let us take that discussion all across America, because women are far more than the Democrats have played them to be.”

I would love to know how limiting a woman’s* ability to get access to contraceptives, and therein limiting her choice of when or when not to become pregnant, is aiding the in equality of women*, and NOT a war on their own personal choices, and ability to make them. By pinning Democratic leaders who believe that Birth Control is an important aspect of women’s* health choices for a multitude of reasons that span even farther than just a pregnancy preventative ( regulating the cycle, ovarian cyst prevention, acne and extreme cystic acne prevention, anxiety prevention, painful menstruation prevention, which are just a few examples of other positive uses of contraceptives ), as “telling women* they are helpless”, is totally ironic, due to the fact that if Republican leaders like Huckabee got their way, a woman* who had no access to birth control, and no means to purchase it outside of her health plan, would be helpless but to choose between the potentiality of an abortion or a potentially unwanted pregnancy since she was given no preventative options suited strictly for her own personal body chemistry, internally.

By denying what we know about human sexuality ( that many people, not all, but many enjoy having sex for reasons other than just making children ), GOP leaders not only shame women* for totally normal sexual urges furthering the false and sexism laced notion that sexual women* are abnormal “whores”, deny basic common knowledge that people will have sex either safely or unsafely regardless of whether or not they want to deny it,  but lack any basic understanding of the female* reproductive system, in that no, women* CAN’T go inside themselves and turn things off and on – and yes, contraceptives helps people to control when and when not they want to get pregnant.

Or, take it from Former Sen. Rick Santorum “You don’t need insurance for these types of relatively small expenditures. This is simply someone trying to impose their values on somebody else, with the arm of the government doing so. That should offend everybody, people of faith and no faith that the government could get on a roll that is that aggressive.”

Who had any idea that potentially becoming pregnant was a small expenditure, or that contraceptives that can spend far past $100 depending on what is needed for each individual woman*, was a small expenditure. Maybe Santorum should attempt to pay for necessary medications on minimum wage. Who had any idea that stating that one wishes to spend so much a month, to prevent the massive expenditures needed to raise a child, or to improve their personal health, was imposing values of anyone else. Last time I checked, telling en entire group of people, that you as a male politician, will never fully comprehend ( especially within reproductive health ), that they are NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE AN OPTION, was imposing a belief system. Usually, giving people a multitude of healthy options to choose for themselves, is a sign of non-oppressive methods of practice.

But let’s get to the good stuff, aside from Huckabee and Santorum, whom unfortunately are just the tip of the iceberg, telling women* what they should and shouldn’t do with their bodies, shaming them for their sexuality, telling them they are “in need of Uncle Sugar Daddy” if they decide that contraceptive is a positive health measure for themselves, they, along with every other GOP leader complaining about birth control coverage, surprisingly, didn’t do one thing: have any qualms with the Affordable Care Act covering Viagra, Penis Pumps, Cialis or healthcare covered items socially accepted as “male*”. In fact NOT ONCE did a GOP member even MENTION that coverage of Viagra, Cialis and penis pumps under Obamacare, and deliberately attacked contraception use for no reason other than their apparent obsession with reproductive health of women*.

The government spends $819 million annually on Viagra’

‘The government spends $782 million annually on Cialis’.

‘The government spent $172 million in the last five years on penis pumps.

So why wouldn’t these officials be talking about these subjects if they actually, ACTUALLY cared about spending, and not obsessing over women’s* choices. The answer is obvious, because, it’s not about spending, it’s about scare tactics, control tactics, and the sexism rampant within the GOP.

Contraception use, while being an obvious preventative measure for an unwanted pregnancy, and a simple step to potentially prevent an abortion, amidst a multitude of other serious health measures ( you would think the GOP would be ALL for contraceptives…..if this actually wasn’t controlling women’s* bodies and choices), has become a battleground for the GOP, while male* sexual items and medications, are somehow not in the same boat, despite the fact that things like penis pumps won’t probably dictate a man’s* career choice, or future income, or basically change the entire fabric of his entire life……

*added for clarification that not all women have a uterus, and not all men have penises, and that both gender affiliate terms are multifaceted

About Krista Montgomery

Krista Montgomery
Krista is a varied artist located in the US. From special effects and beauty makeup to professional modeling and acting, her ideas have been featured in films, fashion shows, commercials, attractions, galleries and more. Seeing how her concepts, characters and designs can inspire others is one of the most exciting aspects of her life. The other is tearing the Tea Party a new a$$hole. From a young age, Krista realized that scare tactics, racism, sexism, class-ism and a horrific serving of lies and false stories were being perpetuated by the GOP and stations like Fox News. She refused to blindly accept what everyone else seemed to think was "common truth" in her small rural town, and did her own research. Upon digging herself deeper into social justice movements, equality movements, scientific evidence and a multitude of real-life, non-bull$hit stories and excerpts, Krista realized that the GOP and its new Tea Party propaganda movement was nothing more than corporately sponsored organizations pretending to be "revolutionary," grass roots organizations for the people. When she's not making statement pieces creatively, she's doing it verbally here.

Funny how the least expensive form of birth control, which also has the least side effects (unless one has a latex allergy), is the one that many men refuse outright to use, because it interferes with THEIR pleasure.

Trust that men will always get what they want, war, penis pumps, Viagra.
” the fact that things like penis pumps won’t probably dictate a man’s* career choice, or future income, or basically change the entire fabric of his entire life”……
And what makes them think that birth control and having babies doesn’t change the entire fabric of a woman’s life.
    Men are such babies.

I find it wonderful that a mature woman can express her voice of her feelings on subjects that many decide not to publicly express to all the citizens who do not know all the facts, only the hearsay that politicians want you to hear. Many items need to be addressed that are important to all of us. We are not robots that can be programmed to follow what we are told, but instead we are humans who have our own opinions and ideas on many ideas that are not addressed as they should be.
