At the pathetic display of nationalistic Teabagger circle jerk that was Operation American Spring, which fell more than 9,999,400 short of its minimum projected attendance, the die-hard patriots in attendance demonstrated once and for all that they have no [email protected]#$ing clue what they are doing. A portion of the mere hundreds who had nothing better to do than show up in D.C. to scream about a black man decided to show off their pride by singing our National Anthem–a venture that quickly became a Star Spangled Failure when they opened up with the entirely wrong song.
Michael Peroutka, who is currently running for Anne Arundel County Council in Maryland, seems to think we have a different National Anthem, as well. No, it’s not “God Bless ‘Murika,” as the OAS crowd believes–it’s “Dixie.”
In a 2012 video uncovered by Grove City college psychology professor Warren Throckmorton, Peroutka urged members at a pro-secessionist League of the South meeting to use his Institute on the Constitution course as a foundation for growing membership in preparation for the coming destruction of the United States.
“You need to secede and then you need to have the biblical understanding of law and government, and make the applications,” Peroutka told the League of the South. “So we need to take the biblical understand of law and government into account no matter what the outcome is with respect to the crumbling of the current regime.”
“We’re going to have to have this foundational information in the hearts and the minds of the people or else liberty won’t survive the secession either,” he said. “I’m saying this because I don’t want people from League of the South to think for one minute that I am about reforming the current regime, and studying the Constitution is about reforming the regime. I, like many of you and like Patrick Henry, probably have come to the conclusion that we have smelled a rat from the beginning.”
He then asked the crowd to stand for the National Anthem before leading them in a “Dixie” sing-a-long.
Last week, Steve Schuh, the GOP candidate for County Executive, called on the totally not racist Peroutka to sever his ties with the League of the South. “I’ve asked Mike Peroutka to resign from an organization that I do believe could be considered racist,” Schuh told the Capital Gazette. “He has assured me that he is not a racist and that he believes in the equality of all members of the human family… He has further assured me that he does not believe in secession of any portion of our country.”
