You know where is a great place to pick up impressionable teenage girls? Church! A Florida man took a page out of Phil Robertson’s twisted and sickening book and found himself a nice, young teenager to marry–well, he says he planned to marry her, anyway.
Lansky Torres, 37, of Lake Worth was arrested on Tuesday after a teenage girl’s parents discovered the two had been involved in a “relationship.” Torres told deputies that he was in love with the girl and planned to marry her when she turned 18.
The “affair” was discovered after the girl’s mother found sexually explicit text messages between the two on her daughter’s cell phone. Detectives interviewed the girl, who said that she was going through a breakup when she met Torres. The 37-year-old, she says, was very supportive and offered to “be there for” her.
Over time, their association became sexual, and Torres began to tell her things like “no one would love her like he does,” according to the arrest report. Torres also “bought (the girl) things and gave her money,” and told her that he did not want her parents to find out about them.
After she was interviewed by detectives, the girl called Torres in a monitored call. He became angry when she told him that her parents may have found the text messages, and scolded her. “Lansky asked her why she didn’t delete those messages and told her he couldn’t trust her,” according to the report. During the call, he spoke of sexual encounters between him and the child.
Lansky was booked into Palm Beach County Jail, and faces five counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor–something that is becoming frighteningly popular among the church crowd.
