Glenn Beck apparently needs a full time nurse to make sure that he remembers to take his medications on schedule, he was apparently off them again when he did his radio show on Wednesday.
He told his listeners that the founding fathers knew that our rights all come from God and therefore created the Constitution to prevent the government from taking them away. He asserted that we have to constantly remind those in government that this is where our rights come from or they will take them from us.
Raging that people have forgotten that their rights come from God, he advised parents that it was their duty to beat the love of God into their children.
He shouted at parents saying, “challenge them, get in their face, teach them a lesson; push ’em!”
He continued, “Well, they’re going to cry, It’ll hurt their feelings. PUSH ‘EM!, because if you don’t do it now, it’s going to be much worse when they’re pushed and they’re shoved and they’re shot. Push them! Teach them! The need to know the truth and the need to be pushed up against the wall once in a while so they know they can defend themselves”
He likes to tout his “Christianity” and this gives us insight into the dangers of extreme religious fundamentalism, which teaches this sort of child abuse as being a directive from God. Perhaps Child Protective Services should be making a visit to his home since he still has two young children living with him.
There was a case in 2011 where fundamentalist Christian parents beat one of their nine children to death supposedly because this is what God demanded. With Glenn subscribing to this brand of “Christianity” it might be in the interest of his children if they be removed from the home.
We have all heard of the devastating effects that bullying by other children can have on a child with some resorting to suicide because of it, imagine how much more damaging it must be emotionally to a child when it is their own parents who do the bullying.
We place limits on free speech in cases such as inciting to violence and this seems to be one of those cases where violent behavior is being advocated and it should not be allowed. Glenn, of course would cry that his freedom to practice the faith he has chosen was being infringed upon, but the safety of children certainly takes precedence over his religious freedoms as well as his freedom of speech.
