Brooklet Elementary School in Bulloch County, Georgia has fallen victim to the disinformation machine at Fox News. Todd Starnes reported on Tuesday that the school had removed a display of “homemade” Christmas cards because of religious references and the use of the word “Christmas.”
None of the story was based in fact. The poster in question was one which the teachers used to share their cards from home with one another and had nothing to do with the students. At the time that it was moved from the hallway (because of one teacher’s concerns about privacy) to a work room for the teachers, it had no cards at all. The majority of the teachers are supportive of her concerns and the subsequent move.
Starnes also claimed that there was a huge public outcry, citing a Facebook page set up for those who are angry about this “anti Christian” travesty. It turns out that the page has 2,890 members which would account for less than 4% of the county.
