A Georgia woman was arrested after she was captured on video kicking a 20-month toddler at a day care facility. In recently-released footage, worker Alexis Wilson-Britten can be seen kicking the son of Kimberly Johnson, another teacher at the facility, when he tried to bring Wilson-Britten a toy.
Kids R Kids Day Care owner Robert Phelps says that the teacher was scheduled to be terminated the day of this incident. Phelps says that Wilson-Britten has a history of abuse. During a previous incident, according to KDVR, Wilson-Britten taped a pacifier to a toddler’s mouth to prevent the child from crying.
Another recent incident involved Johnson’s other child. On Thursday, when she picked up her twins, Johnson noticed one of them was agitated. Wilson-Britten said that the child may have been upset because the kids left the playground early. But later that night, Johnson noticed that one of the toddlers’ arms appeared to be hurting. When the child was taken to the doctor, the Johnsons discovered the child had a fractured arm.
Later, they discovered their child had fallen on the playground that day, and the teacher failed to report the accident.
When Johnson complained to managers that she had not been notified of the incident on the playground, administrators began to monitor the teacher’s interactions on surveillance video. Johnson was later shown the video of Wilson-Britten kicking her son.
Wilson-Britten was charged with simple battery.
