It really sucks to be George Zimmerman, if you ask George Zimmerman! With absolutely nothing resembling a sense of irony Trayvon Martin’s killer complained to Spanish language channel Univision that he misses his old life–you know, the good old days when the sensible segments of society didn’t hate him for being a heartless murderer.
In the interview, Zimmerman said he fears for his life (after all, you never know who might “feel threatened” by him), wears a bulletproof vest, and follows a safety plan in public. He also complained that getting away with murder has left him $2.5 million in debt.
Zimmerman claims to have post-traumatic stress disorder, from the mental anguish he suffered assaulting and murdering an unarmed teenager and everything. It was a brutal struggle in which Zimmerman heroically fought off the skittles and Arizona-armed teenager; Just ask Zimmerman! As he told Univision, “He (Martin) saw my gun and told me he would kill me, and I knew he was telling the truth. I mean, was not playing. I asked him to stop …. And the young man did not care. Continued attacking … I knew he would not stop even though I knew that someone had seen (the fight) and the police are coming. He did not care.”
When asked if he should have waited for police Zimmerman said, with a straight face, “in my mind and between God and me … I know that if I did not act the way I acted … I would not be here.” In an effort to intensity the pity party he added, “When you hit your head repeatedly against the concrete, you have a broken nose, eyes full of blood and tears, you’re not in the position to do much.”
Zimmerman, still the victim, just wants the rest of society to leave him alone. “Honestly, I [would] love to live a calm life without being in the press. I’d like [to be treated like] any American citizen — have a ticket … or an argument … [and] not have everyone aware. But that … that’s my life and I do not understand why that is, but I’m living my life as I have always lived, he said.
You know who else would like to have a normal life again? Trayvon Martin’s family.
