Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey (R) was vehemently booed for the second time this week at a Superbowl celebratory event before Sunday’s Superbowl XLVIII last night. Gov. Christie is facing allegations he knew about and orchestrated the shut down of the George Washington Bridge as part of a political retribution scandal.
Christie’s victims are politicians scattered throughout the state of New Jersey, and range from political opponents to friends of Christie to mayors and state senators who opposed Christie politically or did not back projects Christie’s staff favored.
Al Sharpton, who aired video footage from the event on PoliticsNation Tuesday night, said, “It was a dramatic contrast to what we saw three months ago” when he was reelected in a landslide.
Monday night was not the first occurrence of Christie being forced to hear real Americans react to his bullying. Saturday, as Christie took the stage at the NFL’s Hand Off Ceremony in Times Square, the crowd booed loudly. In the vine below, you can see the only people clapping for Christie are the people on stage.
Former New Jersey Port Authority Director David Wildstein said through an attorney yesterday that proof exists that Christie knew about the retribution plans, which means he was instrumental, if not key, in it’s planning.
The only folks not booing are the right, who believe that Christie’s handling of the scandal makes him look “presidential”.
You can watch Cristie receiving a taste of what Americans really think of him here.
