In a bizarre segment from the Fox News show Fox & Friends, the panel suggested that the recent terror warnings are a result of deliberately leaked intelligence from the Obama administration — in an effort to bolster the President’s public image in the wake of other scandals.
“If the White House is revealing secrets, does that sound familiar?” guest host Judge Andrew Napolitano started out. “They’re trying to prosecute a guy in Moscow who revealed some secrets when he was in Hong Kong. If the White House is revealing secrets to make the White House look good, the revelation which tips off our hands to the enemy, that is not good.”
Aside from the relative incoherence of Napolitano’s statement, there is absolutely no evidence to support it. Nevertheless, Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy piled on to the unsubstantiated talking points.
“Remember last week all the talk was about phony scandals and all that other stuff and the NSA and the IRS […] and suddenly we get this alert that something could be happening in the Arab world somewhere toward western interests — and it’s pro-administration?” Doocy asked. “We’ve heard this a million times. […] Just that they would reveal such detail. They burned a source and a method, and that’s the problem. They could still say ‘be careful’ if you’re in those areas. But to be so specific to make it look like the administration is working overtime, look at these frantic avenues of intel, that is troubling.”
