Fox’s Brian Kilmeade got a little miffed with President Obama Thursday, insisting that he was focusing on the wrong issues. Playing a clip of the president’s recent speech discussing the issue of climate concerns facing the nation, Kilmeade insists “it is almost treason for him to be focusing like this.”
President Obama has recently made some strong statements encouraging the nation to work towards preventing and reversing climate change, including his commencement speech at UC-Irvine encouraging graduates to take up the cause. Apparently Mr. Kilmeade thinks there are more important issues the president should be focusing on rather than securing the future of our planet.
Kilmeade and his idiot sidekick Steve Doocy both of course agree that global warming is occurring , but then immediately start listing all the reasons why it isn’t:
“Do you realize as they landed at Jamestown it was record warm temperatures. They compounded the troubles the first British settlement would actually encounter. In Jamestown–I believe that was before the car.”
It’s hard to even respond to such a ridiculously ignorant statement. First off, Kilmeade himself should have noted from his own statement, the settlers in Jamestown weren’t originally from Jamestown. How could they be having record hot summers if they haven’t ever spent a summer there?
They are coming from Great Britain, which has a much more moderate climate than New England. Besides, none of that matters because we’re talking about global climate and temperature, not a few hot summers in one place in the 1600s. Kilmeade shows right from the start he doesn’t have a basic understanding of the issue, much less any business discussing it on the radio.
But Kilmeade continues with his tirade, insisting that there are more important issues for Obama to deal with and that America is more concerned about lower fuel prices than the impending climate crisis.
“I would argue that people aren’t really looking to raise gas prices and oil prices and destroy the coal industry over a situation where we’ve already proven the scientists are skewing with the results. And I would say if you really are Al Gore-ish and you wanna make that your passion, wait till you get out of office because you have criseses–that’s plural, that’s the best I can do–criseses to attend to. It is almost treason for him to be focusing like this.”
Apparently nearly every climate scientist is “skewing with the results” since over 97% still agree man-made climate change is a serious problem. Doocy jumps in to push the blame to China and India, insisting it’s their problem because we’re only the second biggest polluter. However, Obama recognized in his speech that the US needs to lead by example, and it looks like he was right.
As usual, Kilmeade and Doocy are greatly misinformed. Kilmeade says he’s “willing to wait” to deal with the climate issue, but unfortunately we’ve already waited too long. Hopefully Obama’s crusade to wake up the American people won’t be held back by Big Fossil Fuel mouthpieces like these two jackasses.
