The folks at Fox & Friends expressed their dismay on Sunday that in a clip of the upcoming Popeye Movie from Sony Pictures, it seems that Popeye no longer has his iconic anchor tattoos and corncob pipe.
“Nothing is scarier to a modern liberal,” Tucker Carlson asserted, “than tobacco. If Popeye were driving around giving the morning after pill to fourth graders, that would be totally fine, but smoking a pipe, a symbol of freedom and masculinity and America itself, the reason this country exists, tobacco, that’s like ‘that’s outrageous.'”
There is no reason to challenge his assertion that tobacco is the reason the nation exists. Any 12-year-old knows this is a false claim, but it take a special kind if insecurity to manifest highly visible affectations to assure themselves that they are “real men.”
Not satisfied with expressing their outrage that a cartoon character is no longer “man enough,” the panel then moved on to comic book super-heroes who have been forever ruined by the dreaded liberal attitudes of their creators.
They first took aim at the new female Thor just introduced by Marvel Comics. Carlson was disgusted.
“Popeye lost something and Thor has added something, a couple of them,” he said. “Let’s see if you can notice that they are.”
The panel lamented that because of all the liberal demands for equality, “we have to cram a female into every male version of a character.” Of course this is emasculating in their eyes, it is denigrating men and dismissing them as less than they are, less than they are meant to be.
Finally, they went after the new Wonder Woman costume, calling it a “pant suit,” comparing it to Sharia which requires the female body must be completely covered in public. They are also distressed that she is no longer as “patriotic” as she used to be in the old star spangled hot pants and bustier.
Obviously they have a poor understanding of Sharia to compare this to the strict requirements it imposes on women’s clothing.
