President Obama’s speech has gotten the wingnuts over on FOX riled up. If it’s not Megyn Kelly dredging up specters of Sharia law, it’s Judge Jeanine Pirro, who opened her show on Saturday night with a monologue that slammed President Obama’s “dithering” on ISIL.
After updating the audience on the death of British aid worker David Haines, Pirro attacked the President of being “afraid of words,” and then insisted that the President had eliminated references to “jihad” in national security documents. She added that his administration was also behind altering Benghazi talking points, because why not? At this point we’re so far down the rabbit hole we might as well just heave Benghazi in there; you can’t harm credibility you didn’t have to begin with.
Pirro also said that the President refuses to use the word “war“:
Just weeks before a midterm election, the vast majority of Americans, Mr. President, believe you don’t have a clue about foreign policy. You refuse to use the word “war.” What’s with the “counterterrorism offensive”? Who do you think you are, Jack Bauer? This isn’t 24. When you bomb people, send in drones to kill people, order 1,000 military advisors to Iraq, and they cut off our heads, I’ve got news for you: we’re at war.
She leveled accusations of “playing politics” with the word “war,” and addressed whether or not Congress would vote to authorize war. She also said that the Arab world was “reluctant” to join the United States’ effort against ISIS, because Obama was not a “true ally,” who isn’t a man of his word and is “not there for them.”
Surely she knows that Iraq is fighting back and that Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon are all involved and have been from the start, right? Qatar is also involved, and so are the non-Arab states Turkey and Iran. I mean, who does she think the Arab world consists of, anyway? Jim Jones and the Kool Aid man?
Pirro also accused the President of supporting and arming the Muslim Brotherhood government following the ousting of Hosni Mubarak in Egypt. Then, she played a clip of President Bush II warning about the consequences of withdrawing troops too soon from Iraq and said that “I guess he was right. At least President Bush got 49 countries to support the al-Qaeda war. So far you [President Obama] only have 9.”
Bush was right? This whole mess is Bush’s fault.
She added an attack on Obama’s claim that ISIS isn’t Islamic:
“I know the truth is hard for you, but let’s get one thing straight. ISIS, your so-called JV team now up to 31,000, is Islamic. They are radical, extremist Muslims. Clearly a perverted form of Islam, just like Christian extremists who use Christianity as an excuse to kill.”
She said that they must be called “Muslim extremists” because they yell “Allah Akhbar” and because their leader has a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies, they want to implement Sharia law, because they desire a caliphate, and because they want to call themselves the Islamic State.
I assume this means North Korea is really a democratic people’s republic, since that’s what they want to call themselves. And I’ll believe that Pirro calls Christian extremists Christian extremists when I see her do it. I can’t recall a time in recent memory when Fox ever used that term to describe someone.
According to Pirro, President Obama isn’t qualified enough to say who is who isn’t a Muslim because he “can’t figure out your own Constitution’s First Amendment and freedom of religion.”
