The ATF is looking to ban certain types of bullets for the AR-15 because they can actually pierce protective vests. But Fox News host Tucker Carlson doesn’t really see it as a safety issue, but rather just another government push to limit the gun rights of citizens.
According to Carlson, the move was “not really about protecting cops as much as it is about disarming citizens.”
“Just about any hunting round – deer rifle round, for example, put into a handgun can pierce soft body armor,” Carlson said, turning to Regis Giles of Girls Just Want to Have Guns. “If this round is banned, why not all of those rounds too?”
Giles said that the particular kind of ammo that the ATF wants bans is used for target shooting.
“The fact that the ATF wants to ban target-shooting ammunition is beyond me,” Giles replied.
When fellow guest Mark Glaze of Every Town for Gun Rights disputed that notion, Giles was unwavering.
“To say that this is going to pierce through the armor of cops, is ridiculous, because it’s a tiny bullet… To say that the cops’ Kevlar isn’t tough enough to handle that ammuntition is ridiculous.
