Co-founder of Vice magazine, Gavin McInnes, appeared on FOX news to rip Cosmos host, Neil deGrasse Tyson, saying that “white liberal nerds love this guy so much, he could defecate on them.”
McInnes appeared as a guest on FOX on Tuesday night, where he made the comments. He told host Greg Gutfeld that he hated Neil deGrasse Tyson, said that the racial profiling that deGrasse Tyson experienced as a youth was justified, and smearing him for having a white fan-base (as opposed to McInnes, who by this point has a fan base composed only of troglodytes and neanderthals).
“I hate this guy,” McInnes said. “I remember hearing Chris Hardwick on a podcast talk about Neil deGrasse Tyson and he was just salivating. White liberal nerds love this guy so much, he could defecate on them like Martin Bashir’s fantasies and they would dance in the streets.”
And the remark that got under McInnes’ skin enough to elicit the statement?
[box type=”shadow”]Gutfeld and McInnes were apparently upset with deGrasse Tyson’s remark to MSNBC’s Chris Hayes last week that his “great fear” was that extraterrestrials had visited Earth and chose to leave “on the conclusion that there’s no sign of intelligent life on Earth.” DeGrasse Tyson also poked fun at the fact that, if there is life on other planets, their first impressions of our planet likely came from transmissions of old sitcoms like I Love Lucy and The Honeymooners.[/box]
Gutfeld told the panel that: “I don’t know what’s worse: him ragging on some classic American television, or Christopher Hayes laughing, giggling, chortling over really bad jokes.”
The joke of aliens arriving and leaving because there’s no intelligent life is an old joke. It’s just sad that Gutfeld and McInnes insist on proving it right.
Gutfeld also insisted on attacking deGrasse’s background, implying that he wasn’t an astrophysicist — despite deGrasse Tyson having a Master’s of Astrophysics and a Doctorate of Astrophysics, both of them from Columbia University.
Gavin McInnes has a history of attacking deGrasse Tyson as well, according to Raw Story:
[box type=”shadow”]Media Matters reported that McInnes also appeared to criticize deGrasse Tyson for remarks he made during a 2009 panel discussion hosted by the Center of Inquiry regarding how he was constantly thrown “curveballs” during his youth because his choice of careers went against societal expectations regarding Black men.
“He talks about things like, ‘when I was young in New York I would get racially profiled when I’d go into stores,’” McInnes complained. “Back then he looked like he was in The Warriors. He had a huge afro and a cutoff shirt and New York was a war zone. Sorry, you fit the profile.”[/box]
Yes, folks, he did justify racial profiling. No, it’s not a surprise at all.
