Redstone Federal Credit Union has responded to our request for information, and has informed us that Ms. Cruse no longer works for them:
Our firm represents Redstone Federal Credit Union (RFCU). Our client has been made aware of the story you published on your blog titled “AL Credit Union Employee: Obama Voters Get ‘Non-Paying N*gger’ Loans,” about offensive Facebook comments allegedly authored by Donna Cruse and implicating RFCU. We are writing to let you know that Ms. Cruise is not an employee of RFCU and has not been since 2010. We have contacted Ms. Cruse and she maintains that she did not write the comments at issue.
While our client cannot verify the authorship of the post, RFCU unilaterally rejects the ugly statements made, which in no way reflect the practices or values of the credit union. RFCU serves all of its members with dignity and respect and is appalled by statements to the contrary.
We’d like to thank RFCU for clearing that up.
Original story below:
When someone asks what kind of rate they can expect on a car loan from their friendly, neighborhood credit union, we don’t think this is the answer that they should expect.
When a man named John Adams asked, “What kind of rates can I get on a car loan?” Donna C. Cruse responded, “Well, when an Obama voter walks inton [sic] Redstone, we only have NPN loans available to them.”
When Adams asked, “What is an NPN loan???” Cruse responded, “I learned very quickly that Obama voters are not reliable when it comes to paying back loans, so we have the “Non-Paying Nigger” loans. I’m sure you’ll qualify. :)”
We contacted Cruse, who claims that the capture of the conversation is part of a plot to discredit her.
Cruse became defensive when pressed, then referred us to Redstone’s representing attorney for further questions. When she was told that the screen capture appears legitimate, she asked, “Are you a subject matter expert?” However, at no point did she outright deny the allegations past a statement that “there are people” who seek to “intimidate and/or silence political opponents.”
Cruse did not explain why someone would want to silence or intimidate her or tell us what political activities she is involved in, and we are unable to find anything that would lend credence to her claims. After she was questioned on the issue, she either disabled her Facebook profile or blocked us.
“Bagger” contacted Redstone to alert them to the issue. Redstone said that “This person does not represent Redstone” and that they are “looking into it.” We have reached out to him to see if there is a response past the one he received via Facebook:
She claims that the screenshots are fake, but has not provided anything to back up her assertion. We’ll leave that up to you, the reader, to decide.
