A Florida man was arrested over the weekend after he fatally shot his wife in the back of the head during a domestic dispute that began because an old boyfriend texted his pregnant wife.
On Sunday, Port St. Lucie Police responded to a call from 21-year-old Chekingson Sinclair, who told them he had shot his wife, Latwassa Argrett. When officers arrived, they found the woman, who was pregnant, dead at the scene. The couple had been arguing, and Sinclair threw his wife’s phone in the toilet. According to the murderer, she became angry at him for destroying her phone, grabbed a knife, and chased him around the apartment.
When she was unable to catch him, she went to the couple’s bedroom and slammed the door. Sinclair then retrieved a gun from beneath a recliner in the living room, and confronted his wife. He then says Argrett lunged at him with the knife — so he shot her.
He thinks the first shot just grazed his wife and, when she rose and allegedly came at him again, he shot her in the back of he head knowing she was already injured and unarmed, before waiting three hours to call police.
Sinclair admitted that his intent to kill Argrett, and he was arrested and booked into the St. Lucie County Jail. He was charged with first-degree premeditated murder, murder of an unborn child and tampering with evidence.
