Five teenagers have been charged in connection with an awful prank in which they convinced an autistic teen they were filming an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video. The teens had the unnamed victim strip to his underwear and dumped a bucket of urine and feces on his head from a garage roof, making them the most hated young people since that Twilight girl who couldn’t decide if she wanted to fornicate with a dog or a dead guy.
In September, police announced that they had identified those responsible, and on Tuesday charges were filed against the teenagers, who range between 14 and 16 years old, responsible for torturing the boy.
Complaints have been filed in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court against five youths who allegedly humiliated a classmate by dumping a bucket of urine, tobacco spit and water over his head shortly before the start of the school year – and captured the act on video.
Based on evidence gathered during a thorough investigation by the Bay Village Police Department, three of the juveniles were charged with two counts of delinquency, Assault and Disorderly Conduct.
The other two juveniles were each charged with a single count of Disorderly Conduct.
A team of prosecutors from the Juvenile Division of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the evidence in consultation with Bay Village Police and recommended charges.
Attorney Dean Valore said the victim’s family is supportive of the charges. “I think that’s no any small thing,” said Valore, noting that Ohio has no felony charges that fit the facts of the case. He said the teen was tricked and “wanted to fit in with the crowd.”
“This boy was picked on because he was a little different,” Valore said. “This was a dignity issue.” He noted that the charges “will start to give the family closure and a chance to heal.”
Bay Village Police Chief Mark Spaetzel said that the charges are “very appropriate. When you get down to the facts, this is what you have.” He said the teens will learn an important lesson, but “you don’t want to ruin anybody’s life over this.”
