Looks like Ted Cruz (R-Texas) bit off a little more than he could chew after trying to give Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif) a lecture on the Constitution. After reminding Cruz that she’s not in sixth-grade and has been on the committee for 20 years, Feinstein said:
This does not prohibit…you use the word ‘prohibit’…it exempts 2,271 weapons. Isn’t that enough f0r the people in the United States? Do they need a bazooka? Do they need other high-powered weapons military people use to kill in close combat? I don’t think so.
After members of the committee used an analogy about certain types of material not being protected under the First Amendment, she continued after Cruz asked whether or not Congress has the right to tell people what books they can buy:
Sir, Congress is in the business of making law. The Supreme Court interprets the law. [If] They strike down the law, they strike down the law.
As Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) pointed out, none of these rights are absolute and newest TEApublican village idiot, Ted Cruz, damn well knows that.
