A white woman from the heart of the midwest, Uniontown, Ohio, recently discovered that her sperm donor was a black man. Jennifer Cramblett got her donor sperm from the Midwest Sperm Bank and discovered a clerical error about 9 months too late. When the child was born with a complexion just a bit too dark for her liking she and her partner, Amanda Zinkon, were outraged.
According to her the sperm bank kept records scrawled on poorly maintained hand-written notes.
Cramblett claims that it’s too dangerous for her new offspring because Uniontown is a racist city and it’s not fair for the child. I guess now she can begin to empathize with the 24 black people who live in the predominant white city. She could choose to be a part of the solution and fight for the acceptance of her new daughter or she could just whine, sue the sperm bank, and let everyone (including her own daughter) know just how much of a “mistake” she made…
She fears this not just from strangers but from her own family, who have had trouble accepting the fact that she is a homosexual. Well, I hate to break it to you but if something that you can’t choose – like being homosexual or being black – is a problem to your family then they aren’t much of a family after all…
I suppose since the median household income in this town of less than 4,000 is twice the national average then she might be among one of the financially privileged people who has the ability to…..move, preferably to a more accepting, less racist area.
