Tuesday night on his MSNBC show, Ed Schultz accused the right wing of using trucker protesters as patsies, convincing them to act against their own best interest in support of the radical TEApublicans.
He asked them, “If you’re a trucker, may I ask you tonight: What in the hell have Republicans done for you?”
Of course the answer is as plain as the nose on your face-NOTHING! These people, the radicals who have shut the government down are in the pocket of big business and the Koch brothers. They do nothing for we the people, they have no interest in doing anything for us.
These truckers are deluded, convinced by right wing mouthpieces such as Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh that the TEApublicans are looking out for them and that the President and the Democrats want to harm them and take food from their mouths and money from their pockets.
The truth is that while the truckers are complaining of high fuel costs, the TEApublicans are supporting the big oil interests and care nothing for how much the independent trucker is paying for fuel.
With no help from the right, the President and Democrats have given the nation 42 straight months of private sector job growth. They have saved the auto industry from going under and brought it back with 370,000 new jobs created in that industry alone.
Schultz went on to point out that of the 3 million truckers in the nation, a mere 3 thousand have threatened to shut the city down. He played a recording of one independent who had called his show to tell him that he has no health insurance and a pre-existing condition. The man said that he has sold everything and he was thrilled on October 1st he was able to obtain health insurance again.
“When the Beckster says ‘we’ve got to support these truckers’ which ones is he talking about?” Schultz asked.
Near the end of the segment, he spoke with Representative John Garamendi (D-CA) who pointed out that they had made 19 separate requests for a conference committee to reconcile the Senate budget, the President’s budget and the House budget. Each time, Boehner has refused to appoint members for that committee and yet he continues to lay all of the blame at the feet of the President and Senate Democrats.
