Bounty hunting reality show star ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’ sat down with HuffPost Live to talk about the latest incarnation of the show: ‘Dog and Beth: On the Hunt.” When the host asked Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman about Stand Your Ground laws, the reality show star offered up a surprising response.
“I believe in guns. I don’t like necessarily the bullet. America can drop an elephant in one second with a nonlethal weapon. In 11 years we’ve arrested over 7,000 people and never shot one of them. ” ‘Dog’ said. ‘You don’t have to kill–if you catch someone breaking in your house, you shoot them with a taser, they’re down. The cops come in and take them away.”
“I don’t believe we have the right just to kill someone in most states that they’re stealing your stereo so you can beat on him with a 30-06 and blow his brains out cause he’s stealing your stereo? That’s murder 1,” Dog explained. ‘So Stand Your Ground laws are bullcrap.”
The bounty hunter then addressed Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman. “That poor kid is walking down through there and that little gestapo guy shot him and killed him, and then he got away with it…Has he ever watched ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter? Of course he did. Has he ever seen us shoot anybody with a taser or pepper ball? Of course he had,” Chapman said. “Then why didn’t you use that? That little boy would still be alive today.”
