Dick Cheney Tells Fox News That Benghazi ‘One of The Worst Incidents’ in His Career (Video)

Yes, Dick Cheney went on air with Fox News’ Hannity to tell them that Benghazi is the worst disaster in his lifetime career.  No, seriously… THAT Dick Cheney.  The former Vice-President.  The guy who knew there were no WMD’s.  The guy who is being called out for war crimes.  The guy who was a big part of our current national debt.  The guy who flew around on a jet named after an outspoken proud racist representative who altered the political parties in 1964 (Texas was blue… then Strom switched… then Texas… go figure). Yeah, the guy has a lot more problems we can remember him by than those, but as I was saying… This guy must have had doctors sew on a bigger pair when they slid in his latest heart.

It’s one of the worst .. incidents in frankly that I can recall in my career.
It put the whole.. capability claiming the terrorist problem is solved
once we got Bin Laden that Al Qaeda was over with.
If they had told the truth about Benghazi that it was a terrorist attack by
an Al-Qaeda affiliated group it would have destroyed the false image of competence
that was the basis of his campaign for re-election
Well they lied!

…it was really about their incompetence…

He mumbles through what he labels to be the reason for Obama’s re-election and then I would guess Hannity had a remote button for Cheney’s pacemaker because he suddenly got angry about the perceived lies.  What was disturbing… or possibly just a sign of the times… was that his anger seemed more directed at winning or losing an election than it was about Benghazi.  I don’t think Cheney even cares about the details of Benghazi.  He just cares that Obama won and he is seriously mad.  This gave him a reason to believe that a pathological liar like Romney didn’t win because of conspiracy and foreign policy.

EDIT: Edited to more accurately reflect Mr. Cheney’s quote.

Dick Cheney cyborg

    9/11 wasn’t a disaster to Cheney, it was a financial windfall….

    • http://[email protected] herman vandiepen

      excellent point

This has to be one of the most misleading things I have ever read. Your title doesn’t even match your own quote within the article, yet people are quoting the title like crazy, which has no basis whatsoever in fact. They’re even putting in on pics of the WTC because, the way you titled this, that would make sense. The reality of what he actually said, though, was far different. Way to make ATTP look like a bunch of fools. Nice to know who not to trust, though.

    • http://www.facebook.com/writingferret Anthony Davis

Thank you for changing the title!

      • AATTP

Thanks for bringing it to our attention. We also removed the misleading meme from our page. :)

        • Alex

“It’s one of the worst .. incidents in frankly that I can recall in my career.”

          I don’t know… that’s pretty shocking in of itself.

          • AATTP

Agreed. Shocking and disgusting enough that we don’t need to embellish. :)

    • http://www.facebook.com/writingferret Anthony Davis

Your actions speak volumes about your integrity. Again, thank you for making the change, and I admit that my words may have been a bit harsh.

      • http://adamgoodrich.com Adam

To be honest… the story came across my desk at a very late hour and I pushed it to print while half-asleep. I hadn’t even noticed that I had made the misquote in the title and first sentence until the following day. The meme that was apparently created was something I haven’t seen yet but heard about, and I will chalk that up to good intentions from someone with bad timing by quoting the problematic title instead of the quote or video which the story also contained. I left the strike-through on my edit just to make sure that nobody thinks I was trying to hide this change or manipulate people into false beliefs. I made a negligent mistake. We all do. This is how we improve.

When I am 72 I will have a hard time remembering what I had for breakfast, much less what disaster was the worse, and even more so if I were part of the cause of it.

First of all, there is absolutely NO proof that Dick Cheney or anybody else knew that there were no WMDs in Iraq, especially after the CIA and 5 other foreign intelligence agencies told the US govt. that there were. These agencies were unanimous in that opinion. In addition Dick Cheney saw the same intelligence as Hillary Clinton, John Carey, Ted Kennedy and other Senate Democrats who made the case for and voted for going into Iraq. If Cheney is guilty of something, so are they.

2nd, “being called out for war crimes” by your political enemies doesn’t mean you are guilty of them. If there was ANY real evidence that he is guilty, believe me, there would be a huge trial and prison time. To date – NOTHING.

Of course facts don’t mean anything to liberals if those facts contradict their current beliefs.

On the other hand, because of Barack Obama (he went to sleep when they were fighting for their lives, refusing to help them), 4 US officials died and over 20 were wounded . . . and now IRS and AP. Now those are real scandals that could result in impeachment.

    • John

. . . not to mention “Fast and Furious” that resulted in the murder of our US Border Agents.

      • Bob Cull

Fast and Furious? Do you mean that operation that began on Dubya’s watch? Oh, and by the way people in their own administration have said that Dubya didn’t want to hear any information that did not back going after Saddam. Nice try….NOT!

    • PB

There absolutely were not unanimous opinions! This has been investigated and we know that there were many dissenting opinions that were pushed aside. And, no, Hillary Clinton, John KERRY and Ted Kennedy were not privy to ALL the same info. Someone hasn’t been paying attention.

    • Will

UM, No foreign governments said THERE WERE NOT WMD’s. Bush and Cheney LIED about there being intelligence from other nations saying that. Quit trying to make up history.

    • tobyspeeks

I work with someone like you and we call her “blind, dumb, fox” and fox has nothing to do with her looks.

    • tree

I find it amazing that you think there is no proof that they knew there were no WMDs, when their was no evidence Iraq had any WMDs to begin with. On top of that Dick ok’ed torture, also was sitting VP when 9/11 occurred, a much more worst event than Benghazi by far, and was sitting VP when our economy crashed and has not recovered by a long shot to this day. You can say what ever you want about President Obama’s economic policies and you may even have some good arguments, but you can’t argue that this started under President Obama’s watch, it all occurred under Bush/Cheney’s watch. Yes, Benghazi was a tragedy. Yes, it is something I wish hadn’t occurred, but it isn’t the biggest tragedy.

    • http://www.facebook.com/penny.wallingford.3 Penny Wallingford

What in the name of God was Obama supposed to do when an attack was in full force? Hop on Air Force one and go in like a commando…oh wait, that’s probably Harrison Ford you’re talking about.

    • Chris

Wait, are you saying it’s ok to throw away thousands of lives and wreck the economy to fund a war whenever we believe their MIGHT be WMDs… even if intelligence agencies are saying there aren’t?

    • centurionoftheseed

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. What is Uranium hexafluoride and what do you need to make it? How many millimeters in diameter were the aluminum tubes that Powell talked about at the UN in February 2003? What was the wall thickness? Why do those dimensions matter? What’s WINPAC stand for and what was its role? Who’s Joe Turner? Professor Houston Wood? Greg Thielmann? David Albright? What’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory? What was the opposing argument as to what the aluminum tubes were for? What’s the Nasser plant in Iraq? What was found stamped on the tubes that were found there after the IAEA inspectors went back in (months before the war)? The tubes were anodized (though not on the inside on the first batch)—what does anodization have to do with the story? Who were the people that Powell was referring to when he said, “Most U.S. experts think they are intended to serve as rotors in centrifuges used to enrich uranium.”? In fact, none of them were experts. DOE and INR were the only ones to go against the “majority rules” vote for the NIE. That might matter to you if you knew what INR was in the first place. Did you know that over 10 intelligence agencies voted, one of which was NSA. What does an agency specializing in surveillance have to do with nuclear physics? I’ll give you that one: Nothing! Why didn’t the Joint Atomic Energy Intelligence Committee (JAEIC) get involved on the aluminum tubes? It only gets worse the more you dig, but I spent years being assailed as a “Bush Basher” because I had the nerve to pick up a shovel.

All this coming from someone who said, “I hope Bush becomes the greatest president ever”—as I say for every president. I gave Obama a shot in 2008 and he miserably failed me, so I went with Romney. I don’t like Obama, but I detest party-line hackery—which is exactly what you represent with your BS talking points absent of anything that could be considered a genuine argument. That you could mention impeachment for Obama without having a clue about anything I mentioned above is a disgrace beyond anything you could possibly comprehend.

You want to whine all day long about Benghazi, but the aluminum tubes saga is just “old news.” I noticed it wasn’t of any interest to Bush’s army of apologists when it was “new” news either. Incessant bitching about “big government, big taxes, and big bureaucracy”—never mind that there is nothing more powerful than soulless politicians putting a wrench to your brain to make sure that your bunk-filled beliefs are hermetically sealed. Supplying endless snippets of certitude on here does nothing but squander your intellect in slavish service of small-minded people who bask in your ignorance.

I would have thought he’d say when he blasted that dr. in face while hunting was his “Worst Disaster In His Lifetime”.

Our Countries worst disaster was having him as vp

    • Brad Johnson, not the quarterback!

Right, Tom. That one crossed my mind but, for Dick to view the incident as significant, he would have needed to exhibit some contrition. I didn’t see it. Did you?

    • Campbell

Benghazi the was the worst thing that happened in Cheney’s memory. I guess he had a partial lobotomy to erase 9/11 from his mind since it is at least 3000 time worse than Benghazi. To him there was nothing before 9/11

    • http://www.facebook.com/gregweaverindiana James Weaver

Actually it was a Lawyer……which is why it was no big deal to him or all of the non-lawyers of the world. LOL

  • Gerry Mazloum

I’m sure Dick Cheney is probably feeling the same angst that a majority of Republicans feel because we have Black President who happens to be a Democrat. Well “Your anguish and anger are my pleasure and amusement . Thank you for the entertainment. Republicans.” Please continue to hate and whine.

  • Gary

He is nothing but a moron and will be till he is no longer with us. They should put him on trial as a war criminal.

    • John

What would the charge be, genius?

      • Campbell

That’s easy. How about lying to Congress and the American people. He and Bush took us to war in a country that had nothing to do with the attack on the WTC. Sending men to die for the glory of the Bush/Cheny administration regardless of the facts.

      • max

Treason: for lying about WMDs and getting us into a war that killed over 5,000 of our soldiers and countless thousands of civilians, his lying about them hailing us as liberators, using the war for profit of Halliburton (like showers the electrocuted our military men). The list of his treasonist behavior is endless.

      • http://hiredhand.org John Mayer
  • Rick Kitchen

Dick Cheney was born in 1941. Benghazi is worse than World War II?

    • http://adamgoodrich.com Adam

To be fair, he did say “career” and not lifetime… that was my fault for writing too late at night.

      • sogley

And he said one of the worst, not the worst. You do realise people are now misquoting Cheney on Facebook for something he didn’t say. You Americans have a strange way of interpreting the 9th commandment (do not bear false witness).

        • http://adamgoodrich.com Adam

How about reading the article where I quoted him directly rather than getting stuck on the title? Read much?

        • http://adamgoodrich.com Adam

Oh… and I don’t like your implication of breaking the 9th Commandment. You are implying that “misquoting” is based in evil. You jumped to that conclusion based on the title of the article without reading the actual quote or listening to the video which I haven’t edited or updated. The reason this bothers me is that there is an accusation in that phrase of me bearing false witness against my neighbor… however, you should really read that Commandment again. Try looking to Exodus 23:1-2. “You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a malicious witness. You shall not fall in with the many to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, siding with the many, so as to pervert justice, nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his lawsuit.”

If someone is guilty and the belief is that he is guilty… bearing witness is NOT false witness. You are hung up on the title, and I understand this… but it also tells me that you didn’t read the article and still found the time to judge me based on scripture. I believe there was something in Matthew about that one? Matthew 7:3? I really don’t want to talk scriptures, but if that is where you want to go, bring it.

        • Bob Cull

Cheney and Bush are the king and crown prince of “bearing false witness!”

      • Alex

Considering his “career” includes Vietnam, Iran hostage crisis, Grenada, Reagan’s 200 dead in Lebanon… not to mention 9/11…

Yes, to be fair, it is a shockingly ignorant thing for him to say.

Cheney must have a severe deficit in the number-processing part of his “brain.” He is obviously confusing the number FOUR with FOUR MILLION.

  • Eric Murphy

Benghazi was worse than columbine or sandy hook or 9-11 or the million Iraqis killed so your oil companies can take Iraq oil? I dOnt know who is worse g bush or Cheney. The whole cabinet are war criminals. G bush canceled his Europe trip bc he is the most hated man in the world

    • Bob Cull

He cancelled his trip to Europe because his lawyers told him that if he went he would be arrested and there would be little they could do for him.

  • http://www.facebook.com/DatRationalAtheist Adam EzioAuditoredafirenze Accarino

The only reason it’s one of the worst disasters in his life time is because he didn’t become a millionaire from it. Hey! Lets talk about how Bush ignored warnings about 9/11 or how 60+ people died in US Embassy attacks under his administration.

    • Brad Johnson, not the quarterback!

True enough. He gave up being president of Halliburton to become V-POTUS. Then, once “we” decided to involve ourselves in cleaning up the Arab world, Halliburton got all the contracts. Amazing!

And the fact that George Dumbya was informed by Russian Intelligence that Bin Laden was planning an attack on America but did nothing because it supported his and Dick’s greed based plan to invade Iraq.

  • Robert Silver

That’s weird. I’ve kinda felt that Dick Cheney is the worst disaster in my lifetime.

  • http://www.facebook.com/larry.m.boulier Larry Morgan Boulier

How soon they forget! Senility setting in Dick?? :: I seem to remember – October 23, 1983 in Beirut, Lebanon) A certain bombing occurred during the Lebanese Civil War, when two truck bombs struck separate buildings housing United States and French military forces—members of the Multinational Force in Lebanon—killing 299 American and French servicemen. The organization Islamic Jihad, later known as Hezbollah, claimed responsibility for the bombing.[1]

Suicide bombers detonated each of the truck bombs. In the attack on the American Marines barracks, the death toll was 241 American servicemen: 220 Marines, 18 sailors and three soldiers, along with sixty Americans injured, representing the deadliest single-day death toll for the United States Marine Corps since the Battle of Iwo Jima of World War II, the deadliest single-day death toll for the United States military since the first day of the Tet Offensive during the Vietnam War, and the deadliest single attack on Americans overseas since World War II.

How about that day you tried blowing your load while quail hunting :

    Fade to facts —
The Dick Cheney hunting incident occurred on February 11, 2006, when then U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney shot Harry Whittington, a 78-year-old Texas attorney, while participating in a quail hunt on a ranch in Kenedy County, Texas.[1] Both Cheney and Whittington call the incident an accident.

First public news of the incident was called in to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times on February 12, 2006, by ranch owner Katharine Armstrong.[2] The Bush administration disclosed the shooting incident to the public the afternoon of February 12. Local authorities released a report on the shooting on February 16, 2006 and witness statements on February 22.

On February 14, 2006, Whittington suffered a non-fatal “silent” heart attack and atrial fibrillation due to at least one lead-shot pellet lodged in or near his heart.[3] Cheney did not speak publicly about the incident until February 15 in an interview with Fox News. Early reports indicated that Cheney and Whittington were friends and that the injuries were minor. Whittington has since told the Washington Post that he and Cheney were not close friends but acquaintances and has not said if Cheney apologized.[4]

Oh ya, and that that little incident that happened on Sept. 11th, 2001. Where’s that rank on BALLS DROPPED on disaster scale? Code Yellow? Code Green? or Code Red?

    Worst disaster in his lifetime???
    Apollo 18 fire?
    Shuttle Challenger??
    Shuttle Columbia???
    Columbine High School???
    Sandy Hook????

    Should I continue?

I’m sorry, Mr. Chenney, you sir are a pompous ass monkey!

UNBELIEVABLE. What is sad is there are people in America hearing this nonsense and shaking their heards in agreement. Cheny/Bush invaded a country on made up evidence (WMD) and has caused massive loss of life, suffering and a US tax dollars. Lots of those dollars went to Halliburton, which in turn made this Dick richer. Look at NYSE: HAL pre- 9/11 to today. That is why we invade these third world countries.

There will be a special place in Hell for Dick Cheney. What a POS.

  • Bob Cull

Well, we all know that Cheney knows all about lies, he has told plenty of them! Now he has the gall to claim to have sufficient knowledge of what transpired in Benghazi to categorically state that the President lied?
