In a disturbing development out of Texas, several supporters of Republican Gubernatorial candidate and current Texas AG Greg Abbott have posted death threats against Wendy Davis on his FaceBook page.
Davis (D- amazing) has announced her candidacy for the job of Texas Governor now occupied by empty suit and good hair, Rick Perry.
Davis gained national attention when she really, truly filibustered a bill (unlike Ted Cruz’s fake filibuster) that was punitive in regard to women’s health and reproductive rights.
During those hours, Davis was not allowed to lean or go to the bathroom or veer slightly off topic. In fact, when she talked about the very relevant issue of Planned Parenthood, the legislative chair ruled her out of order.
Imagine if she read from Green Eggs and Ham?
If Abbott has any sense of ethics, he must immediately take the threatening posts off his FB page, denounce such ugliness and demand his supporters show respect to his opponent.
In the ongoing war on women, abuse and misogyny, words have to be carefully monitored. Language has power, and too often violent threats lead to tragic consequences.
There is absolutely no place in a campaign for this level of ignorance.
