Larry Klayman likes to call himself a political activist and patriot. It’s highly doubtful that anyone sane would agree with his assessment, however. Klayman is the founder and former chairman of Judicial Watch and is best known for his propensity for bringing and losing frivolous lawsuits against government officials. He filed 18 suits against the Clinton administration and brought another unsuccessful suit against Dick Cheney over his energy task force.
This past Monday, Klayman announced that he had convened a “citizens’ grand jury” in Ocala, Florida which had indicted the President for, “defrauding the American people and Floridians by proffering them with a fake birth certificate.” He went on to say that he had also convened a “people’s court” and convicted him in absentia and was now demanding that the President surrender himself to be imprisoned for his “crimes.”
Klayman admits that the President made a birth certificate available to the public showing that he was indeed born in Hawaii to an American mother, but says that, “the problem is however, according to forensic experts, the birth certificate is altered and forged.” He contends that in order to be a natural born citizen one must not only be born in the country, but that both parents must also be citizens, something that one would expect a lawyer to know is untrue.
His manifesto goes on to say, “Of course, Obama will not willingly obey the law of the people. He will attempt to hide behind the iron fences of the White House, perhaps cowering under his desk for fear that the people will rise up and demand his ouster.”
To that end he has called on the people of the United States to march on Washington D.C. on November 19 to demand that he surrender himself to them saying, “I call upon millions of Americans who have been appalled and disgusted by Obama’s criminality – his Muslim, socialist, anti-Semitic, anti-Christian, anti-white, pro-illegal immigrant, pro-radical gay and lesbian agenda – among other outrages, to descend on Washington, D.C., en masse, and demand that he leave town and resign from office if he does not want to face prison time.”
While it is disturbing that there is someone out there who is this crazed, what is even more disturbing is the fact that this man is not alone — he has followers who are just as convinced of his delusions as he is. Fortunately, although they are very noisy and vocal and they think that they are great in number, these people are actually a confused and very small minority.
