Without any disrespect whatsoever toward any victims mentioned herein, this is probably a good time to mention the Three Laws of Surviving Florida:
- Never call the cops if you have a record, and don’t want to see someone (or yourself) get shot
- Never call the cops if you don’t want to see someone (or yourself) get shot
- Never call the cops
Texas and Florida have a lot in common; these days, both have become kind of running jokes when it comes to matters of violence and justice. Unfortunately, too many of these times are hardly funny for those victimized by the Gestapo in either of these states. If you live in Florida, you learn to whistle past the graveyard about it; a bit of nihilism keeps you sane.
But, in this particular case…gee…honestly, I’m thinking it’s time to take a stand and fry some pork. Don’t watch the video below if you don’t want to see an psychopath with a badge gun down a mentally ill man, in cold blood. This painful video comes from the Dallas Morning News.
The Dallas cop who gunned mentally ill Bobby Bennett down said that Bennett charged toward them with a “knife raised in an aggressive manner.” Unfortunately, Officer Cardan Spencer didn’t know that a neighbor’s security camera was recording the entire event, and the report he and his partner gave prior to learning of the camera’s existence doesn’t quite jive with what is plainly evident on the tape.
BECAUSE THEY’RE LIARS.
On the tape, you can clearly see that not only does Riley did NOT charge them and “attack them with a knife.” It hasn’t even been confirmed that he had a knife. He never so much as raised his hand in a threatening manner — in fact, he dropped his hands to his sides and kept them there. Nor did he take a step forward. He stood perfectly still with his hands at his sides, not even raising them to defend himself while this uniformed sociopath opened fire.
The incident started when Bennett and his mother (Joyce Jackson) got into an argument, and he stormed outside to calm down. His neighbor, Maurice Bunch, gave him a cigarette and helped to calm him down. Portentously, Maurice told him :
“There’s going to be trouble if the cops come.“
Word from Florida, Maurice. Don’t expect mercy when you’ve been in and out of prison a couple times ten years ago for theft, as Bennett was. Anybody with a rap sheet (especially for non-violent crimes) is a criminal, and criminals get put down. Streets are cleaner that way.
When the pigs did show up…well, you can see what happened. Bennett wheeled the chair backward from the patrol car (rightfully, in fear), and then dutifully stood up with his hands at his sides. Five seconds later, the police fired several shots into him. A few went astray into neighboring houses — fortunately, no innocent bystanders were killed.
His neighbor did not report seeing Bennett with a knife at the time he gave him the cigarette, or at any point during Officer Cardan Spencer’s unprovoked attempt at murder. The police appear to have kicked a knife away from him in the footage; then again, they could just be routinely pantomiming for onlookers. Not that dirty, lying, murderous pigs would ever do THAT.
The call to the police, sadly, came from Bennett’s mother, who had called them to HELP her son. Apparently, the aged Mum hadn’t heard that 21st Century Police State pigs have no interest in helping anybody. Her perception of the police as “protectors of the public” proved, sadly, to be about 50 years out of date. She said:
“It’s heartbreaking. It’s not right. My son did not do anything to those police officers. This is not right what they did.”
There’s the understatement of the year. The police her they would send “specially trained officers” out to the scene. That’s wasn’t an understatement.
They just neglected to say the officer was trained in murder.
Predictably, other Dallas pigs and lawyers are either playing neutral or sticking up for the liar and attempted murderer Cardan Spencer — who is now on administrative leave. Police chief David Brown, even after learning of the video, said investigators are in the “very early stages of conducting a thorough criminal investigation of this incident.”
You know what you’d call these “very early stages” for anyone who wasn’t a cop? “Booking.”
Spencer’s attorney Robert Rogers, said that his client had reason to shoot, and vomited these words forth into a microphone:
“The facts and circumstances known to Officer Spencer at the time completely justify his actions. Obviously there is much more to this situation than that video.”
NO THERE G******ED ISN’T, YOU LYING SACK OF S**T!
The entire encounter, less than 30 seconds long, was captured on tape from the moment Spencer pulled up to the moment he gunned Bennett down. no matter what Spencer heard, no matter what he says he saw, no matter what excuse he gave, the fact is that he clearly stated that Bennett “advanced” on him with a knife held in the air.
That. Isn’t. What. HAPPENED.
Niether, apparently, did the words that Spencer and his equally lying partner attest that Bennett said to them just before charging with the knife. The pigs reported that Bennett did his best Scarface impression, and menacingly said
“Ya’ll are going to need more police.“
However, Maurice Bunch, who was well within earshot said
“That’s a lie. They were trying to kill him.“
Unfortunately for Spencer, his victim lived. With videotape, and a witness. Of course, that didn’t stop other uniformed Dallas thugs from barring his mother’s entrance into her son’s intensive care room. They told her
“You don’t need to be here. Your son is under arrest for trying to hurt the police.”
YOU don’t need to be there. Neither does Spencer, or his slimebag lawyer, or half the other lying, vicious, corporate-owned pigs in Texas. Or Florida, for that matter. Make no mistake, THIS is what happens when you live in a state where the legislative and justice systems have been hijacked by corporations and the politically corrupt. This is what happens when you have a state run by Teabaggers and Corporate Conservatives. The prisons and money-men write the laws, the Big Pigs recruit little sociopaths who will do whatever they’re told, and those sociopath piglets do as it is in their nature to do. Things like this.
It’s worth mentioning that Spencer is fairly young, a mere 29 years old. He’s also only been with the police department since December of 2007 (and he makes 40K a year to shoot people, if that matters).
Texans have doubtless noticed this as well, but here in Florida we know to watch out for the young ones…the new ones. While most might not understand WHY these younger cops seem so much more evil, so much more heartless, and vicious than veterans, the reason why is pretty simple when you understand the system:
THEY LOOK FOR SOCIOPATHS NOW.
“Presumed innocence” has been replaced with “presumed compliance.” “Ethics” has been replaced with “what will get the dept. sued.” “Public service” has been replaced with the willingness to set aside personal morality and mindlessly follow orders. The concepts of “justice,” “mercy” and “empathy” have fallen away in favor of the ability to dissociate one’s emotions from one’s actions as they are directed by corporate-authored directives.
In short, emotional dissociation and sociopathic tendencies (or at least the potential for them) have become pre-requisites for employment. And they will be, as long as we have a “justice” system that is anathema to the just.
But until those of us who live in corporate police states take our states back, and start hiring a new breed of police who truly consider themselves public servants and protectors, we should remember the Prime Directive for survival:
- NEVER CALL THE COPS.
