Look out liberals, African-Americans, and other individuals not a Tea Party Conservative: YouTube Celebrity “Wild Bill” Finley claimed ownership of Martin Luther King Jr. Day during his speech at the South Carolina Tea Party Coalition convention on Sunday.
What business does a White Neo-Confederate revisionist have claiming a day dedicated to a fall civil rights leader that, in another lifetime, Finley would’ve have vehemently opposed?
I’ll let Finley explain — I like to give idiots enough rope to hang themselves with, anyway:
How appropriate that we are here right at the Martin Luther King holiday. Martin Luther King had a dream, and it was a good one — a day when skin color wouldn’t matter anymore. A time when character would be more important than skin color.
But when we look at what’s going on in America today, it’s pretty easy to see that Dr. King’s dream got hijacked. I believe racism in this country would’ve died out a long time ago, except that some people figured out that racism can be very profitable — both financially and politically.
And now, those who are most vocal about Martin Luther King being their hero seem to be the most race-driven people in America. The left have mastered the art of turning every issue into a skin-color issue, character be damned.
Manufacturing racism for political purposes is a big business in the USA, and manufactured racism has been used to hurt the Tea Party from Day 1. There’s no doubt in my mind that if Martin Luther King Jr. was alive today the liberal left would spit in his face because he would be such a threat to their political agendas.
We are the people. who practice Dr. King’s dream. It is the Tea Party where people are not judged by the color of their skin, and it’s Tea Party Americans who believe that character still counts.
So today, I am officially announcing that the Tea Party is taking Martin Luther King away from the liberal left. And to you race-baiting promoters of division and hatred, you’re not getting him back until you renounce your shameful skin-color politics and start practicing the politics of character.
That’s an awful lot of wasted electrons to say, “until you liberals stop talking about race issues, we’re going to hold this day hostage and never give it back, so nyah!”
I’m not even sure how you can hold a day hostage. The more I try to figure that calculus, the more my head hurts.
He claims the Tea Party doesn’t judge based on color. Let’s take a look at the Kamikaze Caucus — it’s White Christians all the way down. Where are the voices of diversity? Where are the voices of African-Americans and their experiences? Moving beyond politics, racism is still widely practiced in the real estate business; they don’t even try to hide it. Zip codes coded Black are routinely discriminated against in things like healthcare. Police brutality disproportionately affects African-Americans and Black-Americans, and there’s an ingrained racial bias that has been recorded again and again. You couldn’t go into a White suburb and throw a lawn dart without hitting a racist (I don’t recommend doing that, by the way).
That he shoved his fingers in his ears (an impressive ability, given where his head is stuck), and wants to pretend that we’re a meritocracy that doesn’t judge based on color is a joke, just like the Tea Party claim that they now own Martin Luther King Jr. Day — or, a joke, just like the Tea Party. Period.
