A new Pew poll asked a simple question: “Do you often feel proud to be an American?” FOX News, since it is FOX News, chose to misrepresent the answers liberals gave to that question. Omitting the “often,” Ainsley Earhardt explained to the illiterate crowd her station draws that “60 percent of liberals are not proud to be an American.”
The poll in question found that 44% of Americans (60% of liberals, as we have heard), “feel that that characterization does not fit them well.”
Pretending that the poll asked what she told her audience it did, Earhardt invited country music legend Larry Gatlin on the show to explain to liberals why they should be proud to be an American, despite nothing indicating that they are not. Of course, the problem is President Obama.
Gatlin immediately repeated the common right-wing line, “I have a pen, too,” referencing President Obama’s State of the Union remarks regarding the use of executive orders to accomplish some positive change in the face of an obstructionist Congress–something the GOP, of course, opposes.
Gatlin explained all about what he calls the “limousine, Lear jet liberals” and “low-information voters”–then, of course, paused to take a moment to personally bash Hillary Clinton,
“Hillary, you can get out of the limo now. Your Lear jet has been cleared for takeoff –to elect an America-hating ‘doofus’ to office.”
Gatlin went on about President Obama, screeching,
“He told us that he hated America. In defense of low-information voters, I knew one. Little half-breed Cherokee Indian (emphasis ours) — yes, that’s Cherokee Indian for you Florida State Seminoles and Washington Redskins.”
He paused to display an exaggerated chopping motion, accompanied by a mocking “war cry,” and continued,
“She was very wise, though. She said if a child acts badly, if a child is naughty, slap the grandmother. Because, see, that means the grandmother didn’t teach mother, and the mother didn’t teach the child. By the way, that was my grandmother.”
In case you’re having trouble keeping up with the immense amount of verbal diarrhea spewing from this man’s mouth, yes — he did call his grandmother a “half-breed.”
He went on to explain that “old hippies from the ’60s,’ Bill and Hillary Clinton, ‘rule’ America and told Earhardt that liberals became upset when we sent troops to war it was because, of course, liberals “don’t believe there is a right or wrong.”
Gatlin then exclaimed,
“They blame America, they blame Bush, they wrap their robes of self-righteousness around them, get in their Lear jets, and take off, and they’re still mad at me. I’m not going to say ‘Love it or leave it,’ but I’ll say ‘Love it or get out of my face!’”
Earhardt continued on to another question in the study:
“Is the United States the greatest country in the world?”
According to the study, twenty-eight percent of respondents said that the United States “stands above other countries,” fifty-eight percent say that it is “one of the greatest countries,” and twelve percent say “there are better countries” than the U.S.
Gatlin argued that ‘Murika is the greatest nation on the planet because do so much for other nations and, according to him, ask for nothing in return but space to bury our dead.
The FOX host then returned to her blatant misrepresentation of the data, asking,
“Do you take offense to this, that sixty percent of liberals are saying that they are not proud to be Americans?”
Gatlin responded (hysterically, without the least bit of sarcasm in his voice),
“Well, it’s that whole deal about you can keep your mouth shut and some people think you’re stupid or you can open your mouth and they’ll know for sure.”
Ain’t THAT the truth. Unfortunately dumb people rarely know they’re dumb.
